Hurricane Irene Aftermath August 30, 2011
The resort communities were looking forward to resuming the usual summer fun at the Jersey Cape. County Officials rescinded the emergency proclamation on August 28th and local and county personnel started early, clearing debris from streets and roadways so those evacuated from Cape May County could return safely.

Photo 7118 During this time of emergency, the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs is taking an aggressive approach to combating predatory consumer practices such as price gouging and unlicensed or unregistered clean up and repair services.

Photo 7122 The Ocean Water Monitoring program continues in Cape May County. The monitoring sites were tested following Hurricane Irene. After reviewing the test results, all beaches in Cape May County were open for bathing.

Photo 7123 Cleanup began as soon as possible and beaches were preparing to open and were open by the end of the day, Aug 30th or sooner.

Photo 7125 Most damages from Hurricane Irene to County Roads and bridges have been repaired.

Photo 7126 There were lots of downed trees and debris throughout the County. Many intersections experienced flash flooding.
